December 31: year-end tax filers
January 15
  • 2020 Fourth quarter individual estimated payments are due on Form 1040-ES
January 31
  • Employers distribute copies of Form W-2 to all employees.
  • The government’s copy of Form W-2 series returns, along with the appropriate transmittal Form W-3, should be sent in by today.
  • Businesses who make certain payments, distribute your Form 1099s to recipients with information in Box 7, along with the appropriate transmittal form 1096
  • File Form 940 (“Employer’s Annual Federal Unemployment (FUTA) Tax Return”) for 2020
  • File Form 941 (“Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return”) to report Medicare, Social Security, and income taxes withheld in the fourth quarter of 2020
March 15
  • 2020 Corporate Tax Return Form 1120S is due. If not sent in, extensions should be filed today by using Form 7004.
  • 2020 Partnership Tax Return Form 1065 is due. If not sent in, extensions should be filed today by using Form 7004.
April 15
  • 2020 Individual Tax Return Form 1040 is due. If not sent in, extensions should be filed today by using Form 4868.
  • 2020 Corporate Tax Return Form 1120 is due. If not sent in, extensions should be filed today by using Form 7004.
  • 2021 first quarter individual estimated payments are due on Form 1040-ES.
  • 2020 FinCEN 114-FBAR is due
